施芳瓏轉述校方發布聲明表示：「我們檢查了我們的紀錄，倫敦政經學院和倫敦大學都證實蔡英文於1984年獲得法學博士學位。」
LSE並提供當年獲頒學位的學生名單，Ing-Wen Tsai出現在HigherDegrees Awarded 1983-84 Ph.D. 欄下，以茲證明。LSE表示對於不斷謠傳蔡英文總統學歷或論文一事甚感困擾，已經多次澄清，蔡英文總統獲得博士學位的過程皆合乎規定。
